The next day in Gatlinburg, we explored the Roaring Fork trail. It's right outside the city of Gatlinburg compared to the Cade's Cove trail the day before that is 20 miles outside the city.
It was another late start to the day. I think everyone is enjoying sleeping in. This was clean yesterday. All the leaves are really starting to fall now.
Along the drive up the trail we stopped a few places to get photos.
The trees are pretty bare but there are still some leaves hanging on.
Getting the shot. As I was crouching down a car slowed down and rolled down the window and said "I thought you were a bear!"
Looking up into the treetops.
There's some beautiful colors.
Today was going to be a day of hiking. We started with just a short 1/4 mile hike into the trees. Look at all the leaves on the ground. I'm sure this would have been even more stunning a week ago.
We found a great little stop along the trail to take photos.
Then got a great group photo.
A gust of wind came along and started blowing the leaves off the trees.
It was hard to photograph it, so we tried to recreate it. Look at all those leaves!
Oh that's where they're coming from.
None shall pass!

After the hike, we drove a little further and found a beautiful place for lunch.
After lunch, we headed out for another hike. We'll continue there on the next post.
