This event was being held at Angel's Stadium. They completely covered the field in dirt and made a monster truck track.
And Jonathan got us excellent seats. The first few rows are covered and they provide some separation from you and the trucks. We were 5-6 rows up. It was super close!
Having never been to one of these events before, we didn't know what to expect. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly LOUD it was. Earplugs would have been good here.
The first half were the races. Two trucks face off against each other and the first one to cross the finish line wins. There were 16 trucks racing to see who was going to be #1.
And the best way to cross the finish line was to make a huge jump!
And I don't follow Monster Trucks, but even I have heard of Grave Digger.
And the trucks get huge air!
We were all excited to see the bus take a little damage.
After getting some huge air, those tires take a pounding when they land.
The freestyle event was our favorite. It was great seeing what the trucks could do, but it was even better when you see them wreck! We saw a few trucks flip over, a broken axle, a truck that landed wrong and popped two tires on one side, and even a few small fires.
Finally the bus gets some action. Even though it was just a little smashed, it was fun to see. I was really hoping to see it get destroyed.
In all, a great experience! Good suggestion Mr. Baker. I think we'll be seeing more Monster Truck rallies in the future. And with tickets only costing $40 for the super close seats, it's not even that expensive!
