It's a little late, but we're finally getting around to trying these Oreo Eggs.
We love trying all sorts of different Oreo cookies so when I saw these of course we're going to taste test them.
They're just about the same size as those delicious Cadbury Creme Eggs that I love every Easter. I'm wondering what's on the inside.
The outside shell has similar ridges to a Cadbury Creme Egg too. In doing my research on these, they've actually released something similar in the UK that are made by Cadbury. Here in the United States though they're distributed by Mondelez Global, which means Kraft Foods.
I told Ian I needed something to hold these up while I take pictures. He ran off and quickly came back with these medicine cups. Smart thinking buddy!
Let's crack one open.
Inside there's creme filling, but it's quite a bit more solid than I was expecting. Not fluid and runny like Cadbury Creme Eggs. And not soft like Oreo cookie creme filling either.
Now let's eat them.
Ian - The chocolate taste like a chocolate coin.
Hmm. Guess that's what you get for not going with Cadbury chocolate.
But the kids aren't too picky and gave it a thumbs up.
My favorite is still safely the Easter Cadbury Creme Egg. Good try by Oreo, but there's a few things I would have liked changed. Tastier chocolate and a filling that better represented what's inside a real Oreo cookie.
Never saw Oreo Eggs being advertised. Before I read the words "thumbs up" I only saw the picture of the kids chewing through their first bites...I first thought from their expressions that they were struggling to chew and swallow it because it wasn't too good...guess initial looks were deceiving (lol)! I would have expected the egg's inside to be creamy like an Oreo's creme, too...back to the drawing board :-) Glad Ian & Alli enjoyed the Oreo eggs! P.S. Nice "cracking of the egg" without "splintering" it into multiple pieces. EOM
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see the Oreo Eggs too. I found them in the clearance bin at the grocery store, so I must have missed them at Easter.
DeleteIf the insides were gooey I would have liked them more. But oh well. Have to stick with the Cadbury Eggs.
