Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip Oreos

Oreo has a lot of fun flavors they've been releasing this summer. So far we've tried Latte Oreos, S'mores Oreos, and Marshmallow Moon Oreos. Just 2 more flavors to go.
Today we're tasting the Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip Oreos.
And whenever I can, I like to taste it with what it's trying to represent. In this case, we're eating it with real Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream too.

A couple shots of the packaging. The usual mint chocolate chip ice cream is a lot more green. Baskin Robbins doesn't lean that way though. Theirs is a very pale green.

The Oreos themselves are actually two different cremes in one. There's a solid chocolate layer along with a mint layer. If you remove the cookie, you can see the mint layer has little chip pieces inside it. If you're eating it regular, you can't really see the pieces. And speaking of eating them, let's dig in!

The kids liked it of course. Ice cream and cookies together? Yes please.

Tasting the Oreos first, the mint is subtle. I've had just the regular mint Oreos and these are way less minty than that.
Time for the ice cream. Hmm, interesting. The mint flavor of the ice cream is very light too. I guess that means Oreo got it spot on then.

At the end of August, Maple Creme Oreos are coming, and those are the ones I've been most looking forward to all summer. But, what should I try them along with? Maple nut goodies, maple syrup, or something else?

  1. Trader Joes sells cream filled maple cookies that are so so good! And Epcot and Canada also sell very similar cookies so they're basically the real deal. Not great for a comparison to the oreos, but who doesn't love lots of cookies!

  2. Wonder why they needed the chocolate creme layer...thought it would only be the "mint chocolate bits" creme only...but maybe they thought it would be too overpowering for the cookie. Any ways, I think cookies and ice cream go well together, too :-) (especially the homemade chocolate chip ones sitting on the kitchen table!) Let's see, for a Maple Creme Oreo comparison, why not maple ice cream like in this mint chocolate chip case? If that doesn't sound appetizing, how about the old standby, a maple bar, even though it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison? Another fun Oreo taste test! EOM
