Chicken and Waffle Cereal

My brother always keeps an eye out for interesting cereals for me to try. I was very happy with one of his latests finds. Post's Chicken and Waffles cereal, part of the new Honey Bunches Brunches of Oats line of cereals.

Let's see how well they turned this...

Into this.

The cereal pieces themselves are pretty adorable. We'll take a closer look in a second.

No chickens were harmed in the making of this product.

I'm always curious to check out the ingredients. Look at that, it actually contains savory spices, like onion and garlic powder, black pepper, and more.

First we tasted it dry.

Theresa's mom was enjoying it too.

So there's four different flavors going on in this one bowl.
First are the chicken drumsticks. Great job on the shape, color, and texture of these. These drumsticks are savory and not sweet at all.
Next we have the waffle pieces. Again a great job getting the shape down. The extra holes gives these waffles a great crunch. All the maple flavor in this cereal are in these pieces.
There's also two different kinds of corn flakes. One is frosted and very sweet (but no other flavors), and the other is a basic corn flake.

Check out those little pepper flakes on the drumsticks too.

Put it all in milk and what before was a lot of individual flavors, now all comes together into that sweet and savory flavor you expect.

Nice job Post on making a good cereal representation of chicken and waffles.

And thanks Patrick for the cereal! Keep them coming!

  1. VERY surprised that a cereal could capture the "Chicken & Waffles" flavor. When I read "spice blend of black pepper, marjoram, sage, & thyme" I wondered how that could be enjoyable in any cereal! Guess I was wrong and fooled by the ingredient list. Kind of cute to see the various cereal pieces representing (and contributing to) the different ingredients/flavors in a Chicken & Waffles creation. Did any one else enjoy the cereal w/ milk besides you? Glad you were able to give it a thumbs up :-) EOM
