Chick-Fil-A Waffle Potato Chips compared to Chick-Fil-A Waffle Potato Fries

Got an interesting taste test today. Chick-Fil-A is one of our favorite fast food restaurants to eat at. And yes, California is on a "Safer at home" emergency order. It's going to make for some crazy times ahead. For the moment, drive-thrus are open, so I placed an order using the Chick-Fil-A app to get everyone some lunch.
One of the things I saw that has always intrigued me are the Waffle Potato Chips. We're not going anywhere any time soon, so why not a taste test comparison!

Chick-Fil-A Waffle Chips ($1.99) have existed for years now. Because the regular fries don't hold up well for catering orders, the chips were created.

A closer look at the waffle chips compared to the waffle fries. The holes are a bit smaller than the fries, but they've still got that criss-cross cut.

Taking a look at the back of the bag. There's not a whole lot of ingredients that make up potato chips. Potatoes, Oil, and Salt.

Time to taste them!

First the Chickfila Waffle Fries. When they're fresh, they're delicious. They're not the best french fry ever. That I'd still have to give to McDonalds. But they do have a great potato flavor, especially if you get one that has a bit of the potato skin still on it.

And now the Chick-Fil-A Waffle Potato Chips. They're potatoey and salty. They reminded me a whole lot of regular Ruffles Potato Chips. The chips have a good flavor and a nice crunch.

Time to vote! Which is better? Fries or Chips? At first, they both chose fries, but after a few minutes, Ian changed his mind to chips. The rest of the adults tasting them voted for the waffle fries.

The next few months are going to be interesting.
Stay healthy. Stay safe. Be good to each other.

  1. I would have guessed that the freshly made fries would win easily...guess the chips were an admirable alternative (well, maybe not quite for Ian since he likes the chips a little more). The chips do look like Ruffles but with little holes added :-) Yes...hope everyone stays healthy and safe in this virus environment...wonder if grandparents' visits will be altered or curtailed...know how they love to see the Ian & Alli and vice versa!! EOM

    1. It's hard to tell what people's likes will be I guess. I thought the fresh hot fries would win out too.
We're doing our best to stay healthy. Everything is changing for the next couple months to be sure. Kids don't have school so we're doing the best we can to keep them learning new things and keep them curious.

  2. I used to enjoy dipping the chips in chick-fil-a sauce so they would remind me even more of the fries 😉

    1. Sounds tasty. I've dipped potato chips in ketchup before. Those make it taste a lot like fries.
My go-to dipping sauce for Chick-Fil-A fries is the sriracha! It's spicy and delicious!
