Baconator Pringles taste test

Today we've got another new Pringles flavor to try out! This one is supposed to taste like the Wendy's Baconator!

I saw these announced but could not find them anywhere. Luckily my brother and his wife in Colorado are always looking out for me. They mailed me this plus a few other things I couldn't find in Los Angeles. Thanks!

In lieu of buying the sandwich from Wendy's, I'm going to make it at home myself. Just like when we made an entire Wendy's meal at home including the Frostys!
Baconators are made with 6 strips of bacon, so that' getting started first.

It's a shame how much they cook down.

But all that bacon grease is sure to make for a tasty burger patty. Now that's something you're not going to get from Wendy's.

Time for the obligatory pictures. Alli is always there to help out.

Taking a look at the back of the can, it appears that under the lid there's a code for a free Baconator with purchase from Wendy's. That's a good deal.
But what else am I seeing? These Baconator Pringles are Kosher

A look at the Pringles top.

And the very difficult to read code on the bottom.

Dinner-time guys! Let's eat! For the kids, I made little Baconator burgers with 1 patty, cheese, and 2 strips of bacon.

First the burgers so we can get an idea of what they're supposed to taste like.

And now the Baconator Pringles chips.

Uh-oh.

If Alli doesn't like it... it must be pretty bad...

Actually it just hits on the one flavor the kids for some reason can't stand. Wood-smoke.
Alli - It tastes like smoke!
Smoke is the strongest thing I'm tasting in these too.
Theresa thought they tasted a little like those imitation Bac'n Bits. And I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but I looked up the ingredients for them and both the Bac'n Bits and the Pringles share yeast extract, diosodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate.
Alli asked what "Limited Edition" meant. I told her that it means they're only selling it for a short amount of time. Ian asked if it's because they don't taste very good.

For myself, I thought they tasted just okay. Pringles could have done a little better getting the real bacon flavor in there.
In this case, it's pretty clear that the homemade Baconator burgers are the winner.

Big thumbs up for those burgers.
Have you tried the Baconator Pringles? What do you think?

  1. (lol) "Limited Edition" according to Ian means, "Only selling for a short time because they don't taste very good!...that's a good definition, Ian, in this case :-) :-) What an expression on Ian's and Alli's face when they tried the Pringles, especially the one when Alli is looking at Ian. Huge, homemade Baconator burger (looks like the real thing, too)...certainly looks filling and tasty. Haven't tried the Baconator Pringles...now it doesn't look like I want to, either :-) EOM
