Then with the spatula, I was able to cover both pizzas.
Theresa was asking me if I was all done with the mixing spoon. Ha, just like the kids would do with beaters if I'm making frosting.
Because we can't just have dessert pizzas for dinner, I also made a couple regular pizzas.
Using my own recipe for pizza dough, which is a lot wetter than other doughs, Alli helped me mix and then portion out the dough.
I'm making two regular pizzas. Can you tell which side has Ian's extra pepperoni on it? This one is a regular tomato sauce pizza with 1/2 pepperoni, and 1/2 pepperoni-ham-pineapple.
For the other pizza, Theresa requested no tomato sauce. For that one, I'll be using a homemade Alfredo sauce as the base. That'll be 1/2 pepperoni-ham, and 1/2 ham-olives.
Smile kids! We've got quite the spread tonight! There's a total of 6 different pizza flavors here!
First there's the Goofy's Kitchen PB&J pizza. My jelly came out of my piping bag a lot thicker than I was hoping, but it's gonna taste just fine.
Comparing it to a picture I took of the pizza at Goofy's Kitchen. Their PB is smoother their jelly is thinner. That crust though could be better I think. We'll just see how mine compares.
When I told Theresa that I was making a peanut butter pizza on Sunday for National Peanut Butter Day, she asked if I was making a Peanut Butter, Banana, and Honey pizza. The recipe I'm using makes two crusts, so yes, that sounds like a fantastic idea for what to do with the second crust.
The tomato sauce pizza.
And the Alfredo sauce pizza.
Chi is a fan of just the pizza crusts. As an experiment, just before the 2nd rise, I pulled off 3 little dough balls and put them in my loaf pan. They puffed up nice and big, cooked well, and turned into some tasty rolls for her tonight.
Tasting 3 of the 4 flavors of regular pizza (I don't like olives).
And then it was time for the dessert pizza.
A couple good size slices of each.
Wow, this is fantastic! The crust doesn't remind me so much of pizza crust, but very much like white bread. It's thin and puffy, and because it wasn't baked at high heat, didn't form a crunchy crust.
Theresa and Richard thought the PB&J pizza was great! T said it was like a warm PB&J sandwich, with the same texture and everything. It's a really good recipe.
Chi didn't think her PB and banana pizza had nearly enough bananas on it, so she added a few more slices. It was a tasty dessert.
The kids got small slices of each type of Peanut Butter pizza too.
Alli liked it so much that she wanted another regular size slice of the peanut butter and jelly pizza. We've had a full day of activity with a 5 mile bike ride, 2.25 mile walk, plus at least an hour for them on the trampoline. She was hungry, eating 4 slices of pizza plus a salad!
In a result that I did not quite expect, every single person thought the pizzas were really good tonight.
After dinner, cleaning up the table, Theresa saw me and said it looked like a Pizza Hut buffet. As slices are taken, pizzas are consolidated onto different pans, resulting in pans that have a whole bunch of different kinds of pizza.
Perfect way to celebrate both PB National Day & Pizza Sunday! The PB-Jelly pizza and the PB-Banana-Honey pizza looked really yummy for dessert (delightful surprise on the crust, too)...especially liked the idea of the banana-honey combo since bananas taste great with PB (along w/ apples & PB combo!) That was a great idea to try in creating pizza rolls. The dinner pizzas look wonderful as usual, and one can't miss Ian's signature pizza favorite, either :-) EOM
ReplyDeleteNo matter what specialty pizza I make for the week, Ian wants to make sure that he's getting his Pepperoni.
