Who likes Mustard Pretzels? These three like Mustard Pretzels. And since we've got three different brands of something, around here that means it's probably getting turned into a taste test!
For our sampling today we're going to be trying Mustard Pretzels from Snyder's of Hanover, Dot's Homestyle Pretzels, and Pop Daddy Pretzels.
Snyder's of Hanover has opted to use Honey and Onion along with their Mustard flavoring. And their pretzels are bits of pretzel that look like leftover from some other manufacturing process.
"Wow! Bursting with Flavor! Generous chunks of our Sourdough Hard Pretzels deliver the YUM of tangy mustard, mild onion flavor and the sweetness of honey."
Regular Dot's Homestyle Pretzels are a big favorite here. Unfortunately they're pretty expensive, so we don't buy them often. Will the Honey Mustard Seasoned pretzels be their equal? Dot's has chosen a Pretzel Twist to deliver their flavor.
"Slightly Sweet. A Little Salty. A Subtle Tang."
Pop Daddy Pretzels are based in Michigan, and Aubrey brought these with her when they came to visit. The packaging promises Yellow Mustard and nothing else. Pretzel Sticks are what they have offered us.
"These are Bold Snacks. Made with Big Heart. Made with Flavor So Bold It's Lipsmacking Fingerlicking Goodness and Crunch."
Everyone wanted to get in on the taste test. Even those (me) who don't particularly enjoy pretzels. I do like mustard though, so will this be enough to overcome my dislike?
Yes! There's one of these that I really like!
My favorite of all three has got to be the Pop Daddy Yellow Mustard Pretzels. They deliver a great yellow mustard flavor without any other sweetness to get in the way. It's almost like you're dipping them in mustard. It's that strong of a flavor and it's delicious.
Flavor-wise, I'd go with the Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard and Onion pretzels next. The onion adds a little something. I dislike the texture of the Snyder's pretzel pieces though.
And not quite as good as the others, and not quite as good as their original pretzels are the Dot's Honey Mustard.
That's some descriptive word advertising on the Snyder's and Pop Daddy packages! All three seem to be tasty in their own way...the Honey Mustard & Onion combination seems to offer the best "overall" flavor ("straight" mustard doesn't sound quite as good since I'm not a big mustard fan) but I prefer "thin" pretzel sticks instead of "pieces/chunks." Nevertheless, sounds like a tasty snack comparison test. EOM
