Pizza days are always good days! Today we're in Mississippi and I'm trying to theme my pizza on things that Mississippi is known for. For me, that's fried okra and fried chicken. Does fried food work on pizza? Let's find out!
Ian helped me make the pizza dough, weighing out ingredients. Like all pizzas this year, I'm still focused on the thin crust pizzas!
Instead of a tomato sauce, I'm wanting something creamy to go along with the fried foods. This Chicken Dipping Sauce, very similar to Chick-Fil-A Sauce with just a little smoky flavor will be great.
After spreading the sauce on the dough, I topped it with mozzarella.
Then fried okra.
And some fried chicken nuggets that I had made earlier.
Coming out of the oven, it's smelling wonderful!
A drizzle of Chicken Dipping Sauce on top and it's ready to go.
And we're going to make a Therizza to go along with it. We ran out of Blue Cheese and Gorgonzolla, so it's not going to be exactly the same. Instead we went with a strong Asiago cheese.
My plate tonight.
The Therizza with Asiago wasn't quite as good as with the other cheeses, but it's still delicious.
My Mississippi Fried Okra and Fried Chicken Pizza was delicious! Both toppings were nice and crunchy. The flavor of the okra came through very well. It was tasty! Let's see what I can come up with next week!
Great Mississippi pizza creation...lots of crunch and flavor...such ideas! Always look forward to what creative pizza ideas are conjured up! EOM
