Spike's (and Ian's) Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshakes

Both Ian and Alli are voracious readers. Some of their favorites, similar to when I was a kid, are the newspaper comics. Ian has been working through Charles Schultz's Peanuts and came across a recipe he wanted to try out. Spike's Chocolate and Peanut Butter Milkshakes! Let's make it happen Ian!

Some of you might know that Snoopy was part of a large litter of beagle puppies from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm! There's Belle, Marbles, Olaf, Andy, Molly, and Rover, but the one I remember most is his brother Spike. He lives in a desert outside Needles California, and one of his traits is that he is extremely thin.

Upon seeing him, Lucy has taken it upon herself to fatten him up.

Including a regiment of milkshakes.

Ian's book included a recipe for said milkshake and he asked if we could all try it.

After assembling the ingredients, the kids helped measure everything out to add to the blender. In goes 2 cups of ice.

And chocolate milk.

Very exact measurements are serious business.

Then I helped measure 2/3rds cup of greek yogurt.

Scooping smooth peanut butter into the measuring cup.

I helped add it to the blender.

Yes you can lick the peanut butter spoons.

Time to blend!

Yes it's loud.

Milkshakes complete!

How do they taste?
Well, the kids thought they could have been a little sweeter. Ian thought the peanut butter overpowered the chocolate, while Alli wanted to add even more peanut butter to the mix.

I agree that it wasn't very sweet. But overall for a milkshake, not bad.
The kids are thinking of trying it again, but making some changes. We'll see how it all works out!

  1. Sounds tasty...not too sweet and lots of chocolate and peanut butter goodness!! Great idea, Ian, to try the milkshake recipe...looking forward to the special touches to make it even yummier! Got a good chuckle when Linus said, "I'm your own brother! How come you never bring me a milkshake?" :-) :-) Oh yes, as a youngster the newspaper comics were the first to be read! EOM
