Starburst Airs, Starburst Gummies, and Starburst Taste Test Comparison

Since we've got everyone together, let's do a taste test! 

For weeks, my FaceBook ads have been showing me this new variety of Starbursts called Starburst Airs Gummies. I guess they know my spending habits. They say that it's like being on Cloud 9 if you're eating it and that they're Inflated with Flavor. Let's try it out! 

I've known that regular Starburst Gummies were a thing too, so would these Starburst Airs be that much different from them? I grabbed a large bag of Starburst, the regular Starburst Airs, the Sour Tropical Starburst Airs, regular Starburst Gummies, and Sour Starburst Gummies. Today we taste them all!

And along with the regular flavors of Cherry, Lemon, Strawberry, and Orange, the Sour Flavors have mixed things up with Kiwi Strawberry, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, and Mango. 

How about those other Starburst Gummies? 

They have the standard Starburst flavors as well, Strawberry, Cherry, Orange, and Lemon. And the Sours are Sour Strawberry, Sour Blue Raspberry, Sour Watermelon, and Sour Cherry.

A look at everything unwrapped. 

Ah, I can definitely see a difference now between the Starburst Gummies (first and second rows), and the Starburst Airs Gummies (third and fourth rows). The regular gummies are closer in shape to the original Starbursts. All the gummies are imprinted with the Starburst "S" raindrop. 

Let's get this taste test comparison going! Abby is helping separate the Starburst Airs that have decided to stick themselves together. 

Let's start with the original Starbursts. What's your favorite flavor? 

Zack - Orange

Many votes for Strawberry. 

Donna - I don't know. I haven't had enough of it to know.  

Theresa (incredulously) - What??? That sounds like a tragedy of epic proportions. 

Ian - When you do try it, you have to try the pink. 

Theresa - I don't like the smell of the cherry. Too much like cough medicine. 

Theresa - Kids, you're getting a sugar overload today. Mmm. This is why I love candy so much. 

Donna - I might need a few of those strawberries for church tomorrow. 

(I think she likes them)

Let's move on to the Starburst Airs. 

Theresa - The Airs do look fluffier. 

Sharon - They look like marshmallows. 

Sharon - I don't like the texture. 

Greg - That's like stale gum. 

Honestly, they're right. It even looks like chewed gum, especially the pink one. 

Alli - It tastes like nothing. 

Joe - Definitely not a strong cherry flavor. 

Theresa - Well I tastes like air. 

Greg - It's like chewing a piece of rubber. 

Gary - Or like an eraser. A big gum eraser. 

Theresa - That is not good. 

Donna - Chewing on an eraser is not very good. That's yucky.  

Well let's mix it up then. On to the Starburst Gummies. 

Donna - I don't like the gummies. 

Abby - I like them way better than the Airs. 

Theresa - A little like gummy bears. 

Gary - Now that one has a better flavor. 

Zack - That orange is really tangy. 

Theresa - I like the lemon gummy.

Joe - The strawberry gummy doesn't have much flavor at all. 

Ian - It doesn't. 

Next up are the Sour Air Erasers... I mean Airs. 

Zack - I love eating clay. 

Theresa - They don't even look appealing to me. 

Gary - They look like they would be sweet. Dusted with sugar. 

Ian - I actually like the Kiwi Strawberry. 

Theresa - The Sours are better than the regular Airs. I like them better than I thought I would. 

Joe - The citric acid coating helps give it a better texture than the regular Airs. 

Theresa - What is purple? Passionfruit? Oh, no! Who decided that was a good flavor to make? 

Sharon - Passionfruit is awful!

Joe - Ooh, that pineapple is good!

Abby - Definitely better than the originals. 

Sharon - Mango is not good. 

Let's try the Sour Starburst Gummies. 

Sharon - The Sour Cherry is really good. 

Joe - Again, I'm not getting a strong strawberry flavor. 

Abby - If these Sour Gummies flavors were the Airs flavors, I would like them. 

Sharon - Sours are the best version of both of these. 

Zack - The Sour kicked me at first, but chewing on them longer it got better. 

Let's go around the room and get some thoughts overall. 

Joe - My favorite is still the original Starburst Strawberry. The worst are the Starburst Airs Erasers. The best of the gummies though is the Sour Airs Pineapple. 

Alli - The Airs Pineapple is my favorite. My least favorite is the Airs Orange.

Theresa - Regular Starbursts are the best of course. Favorite gummies... It's between the Airs Pineapple and Sour Strawberry. The Passionfruit Air was really bad. 

Donna - My favorite is the original Strawberry. My least favorite of that gummy mess is the eraser Airs gummy. The best of those was the Kiwi Strawberry, but all the others were awful. 

Gary - I liked the Pineapple Air Gummy. Hated the Blue Raspberry. 

Ian - My favorite of the gummies, I like the Kiwi Strawberry, but I did NOT like the passionfruit. That was horrible!

Abby - I liked the Sour Strawberry Kiwi. The gummies were really hard and chewy. I wish it was those flavors with the Airs texture. 

Zack - Personally I like the orange Starbursts. But the original Starbursts aside, the watermelon gummy was my favorite. Least favorite were the clay-looking Airs. They don't look appetizing at all. And the taste doesn't help. 

Greg - I liked the original the test. My least is the plumbers putty Airs. Of the gummies though, I'd say the Sour Cherry Gummies were the best. 

Sharon - I liked the Sour Pineapple Airs gummy, but the passionfruit was terrible. 

Well, with all the jokes about the Airs, I think it's safe to say they were the worst part of this taste test. Give them a try if you dare!
