Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July! We had a great time at Patrick and Megan’s.

Megan and Patrick invited us over to have dinner and watch fireworks from their porch. We've got burgers, steaks, and more!

Megan made everyone a couple air fryer steaks.

Which turned out amazing.

Earlier in the day, I made some molasses bread (think Stuart Anderson's Black Angus bread), and turned some of the dough into hamburger buns.

Patrick grilled up some pineapple.

So good. A molasses bun with cheddar and havarti, plus bacon. Along with a grilled pineapple, goat cheese, and truffle butter burger. Yum!

The fruit salad looked beautiful!

Delicious!

We went for an after-dinner walk around the neighborhood, watched the sun set from the driveway, then started the after dark festivities.

Gram saved some of the plastic packing pillows to stomp and pop. Plus the kids enjoyed playing with poppers and glow sticks in the street.

We all gathered in the front yard to watch the fireworks over the city.

Off in the distance.
While those played, Megan played patriotic songs on her phone. I loved everyone singing along to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA".

And after the fireworks, the kids had their own Fourth of July parade along the front of the house. Love it!
Thank you for hosting Megan and Patrick!

  1. What a way to celebrate the Fourth of July!!!...after the morning climb, a delicious bbq (I think eating the molasses buns, themselves, would be delicious on their own!)...followed by some feet-stomping-popping fun (reminds me of the bubble wrap fun we had before the packing pillows became more prevalent) ...capped off with fireworks, patriotic music (never gets old), and own parade!!! Way to go!!!...great hosting by Megan, Patrick, and Avery (liked how she dressed up in her red-white-blue outfit, too...that's the spirit!) EOM
