It's Captain Crunch's 60th birthday? Happy Birthday Captain!
And the day I'm posting this happens to be my birthday too! Happy Birthday to me!
A friend of mine from California from California let me know that she saw these in the cereal aisle of their local grocery store. She said her boys loved it. I will definitely have to find a box of those! Thanks Amanda!
And find them I did! Now if only I had someone who could help me make some cupcakes to go along with it and compare these too... Hmm... Who could possibly help me?
I asked for help and all three kids came running. Thanks Alli, Avery, and Ian!
Megan - I like Captain Crunch!
Joe - Really?
Megan - Well, I like Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. That's my favorite cereal.
Patrick - I won't have much. I like having the roof of my mouth intact.
Megan - Nope!
Joe - Too much corn flavor? Not enough birthday cake flavor?
Alli - That just tastes like Corn Oops All Berries.
Patrick - I don't get any cake.
Sheila - It tastes like Captain Crunch.
Theresa - At the beginning, there's a hint of birthday cake flavor, then it just goes to Captain Crunch. I'd eat that.
Megan - It kinda tastes like the Rice Krispy Treat Rice Krispies, not the homemade one, but the prepackaged ones in the store. How they're nasty sweet.
Joe - A lot of artificial sweetness is what you're tasting?
Megan - I don't hate them. But I don't like them.
Alli - Avery, new breakfast cereal?
Avery - (no words, just shoving more cereal into her mouth)
Joe - I think it's fine. It's good for Captain Crunch.
Sheila - I'm not a big cereal fan. Not a sweet cereal fan.
The Funfetti cupcakes look beautiful! The kids did an awesome job!
The cereal pieces inside the cupcake... not so good. It got soggy and didn't have a pleasing texture. It turned chewy. The cereal pieces on top however were delicious! I loved having the two different textures. Soft cake and crunchy on top.
Theresa - The cake is so moist, it just falls apart.
Ian - That has a lot of frosting!
Megan - I love Funfetti. I don't know why.
Patrick - I'm sugared out!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Joe!!!...you get to share it with a famous Captain, too :-) The 3 eager kitchen helpers did a wonderful job on the cupcakes...so colorful and thought the balloon-shaped cereal topping added a special, celebratory look to differentiate them from the usual Funfetti look. Such a colorful cereal box...like all those colors! Looks like the Birthday Crunch Cereal wasn't too bad...but agree with Patrick about not eating too much Cap'n Crunch to save the roof of one's mouth (forgot about that one downside despite liking the flavor of Cap'n Crunch). EOM
