Reese's Caramel Big Cup Taste Test

While visiting our friends, Danny and Gayle, in Sunset Holler, I already had a few taste tests planned, but when Gayle mentioned her favorite candy was Reese's I went back to the RV and pulled out yet another taste test. (I've always got something on hand for anyone who wants to be a part of a Flowers Taste Test). 

So today we get to try the new Reese's Caramel Big Cup, and we'll be comparing it to the tried and true, good ol' Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. It's my favorite candy too. 

It is summer in Alabama, and unfortunately the chocolate was sitting just a little too long before I opened it up for pictures. It's a little messy with the melted chocolate. 

The picture on the package for the Reese's Caramel Big Cup sure does talk a big game. Look at all that caramel drizzling down onto that Big Cup. 

The reality is just a little different. There is a thin layer of caramel across the bottom of the Reese's Big Cup. It's topped with a thin layer of chocolate and then the tasty peanut butter. 

Someone is ready to dig in, and it's not just Gayle. 

The standard Reese's Peanut Butter Cup is just peanut butter and chocolate. Sometimes the peanut butter seems to be a little dry, where it crumbles instead of being smooth. 

Seeing as how I need to split this a dozen ways, I ended up cutting wedges and everyone got a spoon to sample it. 

Theresa - It's not better. But if someone offered it to me, I'd eat it. 

Danny - It is a Reese's still. 

Joe - The caramel is kinda chewy. I was expecting it to be more runny. 

Theresa - It doesn't quite "blend" with the rest of the flavors as well. 

Gayle - I got a lot of the caramel flavor. But it changed the chocolate flavor. 

Danny - The chocolate doesn't taste as good. 

Phil - That's a good candy, but not as good as the original. Almost like a Turtle candy with the addition of caramel. 

Now let's go back and try the Original Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. 

Phil - Reese's is one of my all time favorites. 

Gayle - I still prefer the original. 

Theresa - Now you know! When you see that Big Cup Caramel, you're not going to be tempted in the future. 

Gayle - The caramel just overshadows the other flavors. 

Phil - It distracts it. The original - that's the cat's meow. 

Alli - I like the Caramel better than the original. 

Well, it's hard to beat the original, but if you really like caramel, you might just want to give this one a try!
