Time for our next stop on the trip! San Francisco!
When Theresa was looking at flights up to Washington from San Diego, there was nothing direct. They all had at least 2 legs. In her research, the Hyatt at the San Francisco airport is supposed to have an excellent Club Lounge. The flight times worked out really well for us too, so off to San Francisco we flew!
We arrived here at 3:30pm so between any regular food service times.
But they did have a few treats out like cookies, coffee, and sodas.
Whoa! Jackpot! Huge jars of nuts and seeds!
And look at this giant container filled with M&Ms! That's the real prize! They didn't have any serving bowls so I told the kids to grab drinking glasses. Boy were they happy.
Our sweet view.
Getting to "drink" a cup of M&Ms.
One of the things we get with Theresa's Club Access is a voucher for breakfast. Our check-in person realized we didn't receive it when we checked in and came to find us in the lounge to give it to us! And to go with it, a cute little plush airplane that has Grand Hyatt at SFO stitched into it. Thanks!
Okay! Here's what we've heard great things about! A little before 5pm the chefs from the restaurant next door came over to the lounge and started setting up all the food.
It's time to eat! Look at this excellent menu!
I wasn't sure about the Black Bean Empanadas or the Spanakopita, but both were amazing! The outside of both was flaky and delicious and the fillings were super tasty.
I didn't have any Cream Cheese Salmon Bruschetta, but those Herb Goat Cheese with Figs on Toasted Flat Bread were delicious!
There was a large selection of grilled vegetables.
Plus other cruditès.
Individual mixed greens salad and quinoa salad? Normally it's just in a large bowl and you'd serve yourself. Extra points for presentation!
Different cheeses like creamy havarti, carmody (both delicious), and sage derby (too much sage for my liking).
Add to that a charcuterie board with Chorizo, Prosciutto, and Mortadella and I was a pretty happy camper.
And yes, in the background you're seeing California Rolls and Sushi Rolls! Theresa and Alli went to town on the California Rolls.
Let's not forget dessert. Chewy Marshmallow (Krispy Treats), Carrot Cake, and a Chocolate Crunch.
So much marshmallow. They were really good, tasting more like homemade versus the commercial ones.
Our goal was to spend most all of our time in the lounge and I think we accomplished that pretty well. At 10pm we headed back upstairs to the room. Ours is near the elevator and has this long hallway into the main area as soon as you unlock the front door.
Looking out the window at night.
Making use of the deep soaking tub!
That tram is headed to the airport, but we don't have to go just yet. Our flight to Washington isn't for another few hours, so we get to explore the hotel a little more.
This is the nicest hotel gym I've been to! They've got free weights, a smith machine, and more!
Remember that free breakfast we get?
Here's the menu from the restaurant. I know what I'm getting!
While T got the omelet and was very impressed. Not drowning in cheese or other toppings, but well balanced and cooked well.
After breakfast, we ducked right next door to the lounge to see if they had breakfast items out as well. It was around 11:15am, so well after breakfast time, so nothing super impressive.
But they did have cereals, granola bars, and fruit still available, plus all the coffee and drinks too.
The Chicken and Waffles! Strangely it came with eggs, but not on the side. Right on top of my fresh crispy waffle. And the Chicken was supposed to come on top of it too. I asked for the chicken on the side, but wasn't even thinking they'd put the wet steamy eggs on top of the waffle. No matter. I pulled them off when they reached the table and everything was delicious. The kids opted for chicken and waffles too.
Overall we've been very impressed with this Grand Hyatt hotel and especially the lounge. If we've got any trips that are headed this way, I know where I want to stay again.
Time to catch our flight!
Just take the escalator back up to the tram line.
Ride it over to the airport.
Get through security.
New hotel hangout for the area (what a long hallway and big bathroom)...can't get any closer to the airport! Watching planes take-off and land from the lounge is quite the sight, and with all the luxuries at hand, too. Food presentation looked very inviting...I'd head for the CA rolls, too :-)...look at ALL those M&M's (go bug-eyed with that big glass jar!). What a cute little airplane plush souvenir. Everyone is recharged after San Diego and now San Francisco...onward to meet family in Washington. EOM
