Any time I have a Mountain Dew taste test, I like to try it with my brother Patrick who just loves all things Mountain Dew. Today we have 3 different flavors to sample.
We can see Master Chief from Halo featured on the Citrus Cherry.
Citrus Cherry is DEW with a Blast of Citrus Cherry Flavor and other Natural Flavors.
Patrick - How is the Citrus Cherry going to be different than Code Red?
Joe - I don't know. You'll just have to figure it out based on what you remember.
Megan - It tastes like an Otter Pop when it's melted and you squeeze out the last little bit.
Joe - So does that mean you like it?
Megan - I do like it.
Ian - It tastes like Jell-O Starbursts. The Cherry Flavor. <ah, yes, I remember that> It's delicious!
Megan - I want it as a float. With Vanilla Ice Cream.
Sheila - Cough medicine. It's just okay.
Patrick - I agree with Megan. Otter Pops.
Alli - That's perfect. Cough Medicine! The best in the world!
Pop Pop - I like it okay. It doesn't have a strong cherry flavor.
Joe - It tasted cherry-like. Definitely an artificial cherry flavor to it. Like a syrupy cherry.
Theresa - It tasted like medicine cherry to me because all cherry candy tastes like medicine to me.
Avery - I don't want it.
Megan - It's Fruit Punch. It's not Grape.
Ian - Oh man, it's good! Like the VooDew we had last year.
Avery - YUM!
Alli - Literally fruit punch!
Joe - I don't like fruit punch.
Joe - I don't like fruit punch.
Megan - Watered down Pitch Black Dew.
Mickey - I like it. I agree with Ian.
Alli - It tastes like fizzy Capri Sun.
Megan - It doesn't taste very purple.
Ian - This stuff is delish!
The label features... I don't know what exactly that is. Looks like a cross between a bear and a buck to me. The little 1968 on the buoy is a tribute to when Casey's was founded.
OverDrive is DEW with a Blast of Citrus Punch (Raspberry, Lime, Mango) and other natural flavors.
Patrick - It looks like Mtn Dew LiveWire.
Ian - Eww. Not too good. It has Mango in it.
Theresa - That's my favorite so far. But I don't need to drink any more of it.
Megan - Watered down Fanta.
Ian - A little coconut?
Alli - It tastes like Pina Colada.
Avery - It's tropical.
Joe - Yeah, but it's not a very strong flavor.
Patrick - They taste similar to other flavors. I would keep Mtn Dew Pitch Black instead of Mtn Dew Mystic Punch, Mtn Dew LiveWire instead of OverDrive, but I would replace Mtn Dew Code Red with Mtn Dew Citrus Cherry.
Joe - They were interesting. I wouldn't say any of them were amazing.
Ian - They were delicious! I still liked it.
Joe - What was your favorite Gram?
Sheila - I didn't like any of them.
Joe - What's your favorite Mountain Dew?
Sheila - I don't like Mountain Dew.
Joe - But you're tried so many of them with us!
Sheila - The original one then.
As for the favorites overall.
Citrus Cherry - Ian, Patrick, Megan, Joe
Mystic Punch - Mickey, Alli
OverDrive - Theresa
Avery likes them all.
Avery has the diplomatic vote..all of them :-) Looks like Citrus Cherry was the winner in this one! Didn't know Mtn Dew had such a high caffeine content...this new line of Mtn Dew for gamers must really push it up a notch! That was another fun taste test (those bottle labels are quite illustrative!) EOM
