Starbursts are pretty high up there when it comes to our favorite candies. And there's so many different things that try to capture that amazing Starburst flavor. We have certainly tried a lot of them. From Starburst Yogurt, Starburst Gum, Starburst Gelatin, Starburst Fruit By The Foot, Starburst Strawberry Sorbet Bars, Starburst Powdered Drink Mix, Freeze-Dried Starbursts, another Starburst Gelatin, Starburst Airs and Starburst Gummies, and even Starburst Cotton Candy. I'm surprised they haven't attempted a Starburst Cereal yet.
Today we get to try yet another entry into the Starburst flavor universe. From the Talking Rain Beverage Company, now we have Sparkling Ice Starburst sparkling water!
What should we start our taste test with? How about the worst Starburst flavor which is...
Everyone - CHERRY! LEMON! ORANGE!
Lyla Q - None of them!
Hmm, guess we have some dissention on which is the worst flavor. What I didn't hear anyone say is Strawberry though.
Well, we'll start with my least favorite. Cherry.
First we tried the candy, just to make sure we got a good comparison of what it should really taste like.
Ian - It's delicious. Regular cherry is perfect.
Lyla Q - That's actually really good.
And now on to the Sparkling Water.
Lyla Q - Are there bubbles? I don't like drinks with bubbles.
Joe - It's not super carbonated.
Alli - It smells bad. Like tonic water bad.
Ian - Nope! It's yummy!
Danny - I wasn't expecting the carbonation. I wanted flavored water.
Alli - I'd say it's a good cherry drink, but it doesn't match the Starburst.
Ian - It doesn't taste like the Starburst Cherry.
Theresa - It's like the candy with a bite.
Lyla Q - I do not like it.
Lyla Q - When I was a kid, I got grape medicine.
Joe - When you were a kid? Like, last week?
What's next? Yellow? Okay, we'll have Lemon next.
Danny - I love Lemon Drops.
Alli - These are good!
Haddon - It tastes like lemonade, but more sour.
Ian - The Starburst is good.
Danny - I like the Starburst.
Okay, now what about the drink?
Ian - It smells like lemon cleaner.
Haddon - It tastes sweeter.
Alli - It kinda tastes like the Starburst. It's a good lemon.
Danny - I like that!
Joe - I don't know if it's Starburst Lemon though.
Danny - No, I wouldn't say that.
Danielle - If we're comparing the candy to the drink, this is completely different.
Joe - I wouldn't say it's bad. But it's not Starburst.
Ian - It's a watered down soda.
Lyla Q - It was pretty good.
Joe - Then why did you pour it out!
Haddon - She doesn't like anything with bubbles. Even Coke.
Joe - Starburst Orange is a very creamy orange. It really reminds me of a Creamsicle.
Theresa - So good. Starburst is one of my favorite candies.
Lyla Q - I love the Orangesicles.
And now the drink.
Ian - It tastes bland...
Alli - Kinda like a Creamsicle but, bland.
Danny - Like a melted Creamsicle?
Alli - Yeah, but less flavor. I think it kinda matches.
Danny - I would agree with Alli.
Danielle - I think it's weaker than the cherry.
Joe - It's not your regular orange drink. It's a little different.
Alli - The moment you've all been waiting for!
That's right, it's time to try the Strawberry Starburst!
Joe - The one that if they can get it right, we'll all be happy.
Lyla Q - Pink is my favorite color!
Gayle - That piece of candy didn't taste too strong to me.
Haddon - It tastes the same.
Ian - No it does not.
Alli - It tastes kinda the same, but not really. It's weaker. And too carbonated.
Danny - It's the same palette, but not the same.
Alli - I like it, but it's not real thing.
Joe - Kindof. It's a strawberryie flavor.
Theresa - It's the same realm. But nothing I need to drink again.
Phil - It's kind of a swing and a miss. I'm a little disappointed with it.
Danny - Maybe we tried these in the wrong order. We should have had the drink first, then the candy, since the candy has much more flavor than the drinks.

So, these Starburst Sparkling ICE Zero drinks don't quite match up with the chewy Starburst candies when it comes to flavor. What's the best one though?

Lyla Q - None of them.
Theresa - Let's be honest. I would never drink a Sparkling Ice again. It's just not good.
Joe - Did they do a good job capturing the flavor of Starbursts?
Danielle - Maybe like the orange one.
Theresa - Maybe some hints of flavors, but something with the sparkling was just wrong.
Danielle - And with the opaqueness of the color, I expected the flavor to be a bit stronger.
Does anyone like the drinks more than the candy?
No, the candy is better.
Now it's time to start experimenting!

Alli - Can we do a Starburst Duos?
Ian - We have to do a Starburst Duos!
The kids combined all the flavors of Sparkling Water.
Then made their own Starburst, and not just a Duo, but a Quatro!
They said that all 4 drinks combined tasted a lot more like all 4 Starbursts combined.

Alli displays the perfect 4-flavor Starburst candy in that closing photo...nice! The Starburst Sparkling ICE drinks prove to be a weak opponent against the Starburst candy...just can't beat that special Starburst candy flavor :-) Some funny comment exchanges between Lyla and you...my two favorites: "'When I was a kid, I got grape medicine'...'When you were a kid?
