Saturday Morning Cereals - Cinnamon Toast Crunch Waffle Cereal

If you search for "Cinnamon Toast Crunch" on this site, you'll find dozens of different CTC products that we've tried. Well Cinnamon Toast Crunch isn't done innovating and yet again we're getting to try something new!

Today we get to eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch Waffle Cereal!

And any time I can, I'll compare the cereal to what it's supposed to represent, so today, we're making waffles! And you can't have waffles without maple syrup, can you? We are fortunate enough to have some from our good friends the Coutures from their Maple Syrup farm! We taste tested lots of different maple products from their store and loved the maple syrup

While making waffles from scratch is entirely possible, we happen to have the Krusteaz waffle mix handy, so it was simply a matter of measuring the waffle mix, eggs, oil, and water and mixing things together.

And this is supposed to be compared to Cinnamon Toast Crunch, right? Better add some cinnamon into the batter.

Theresa kept busy cooking up waffles one at a time in our little RV waffle iron.

I took pictures of the box and setup while she worked.
We can see the little Cinnamojis have turned into Wafflemojis? Each of these cereal pieces has waffle holes in it.

No games or anything on the back of the box. Just these new Wafflemojis going crazy.

Nothing too special about the top of the box.

But the bottom of the box, like usual, has a set of the new characters.

To start, we're going to try this new cereal.
Opening the box, it smells pretty good. Definitely cinnamon.
Alli - That's good!

Alli - It tastes like a waffle with maple syrup. Crunchified.
Ian - It's crunchy maple syrup.
Joe - I get the maple flavor.
Theresa - It's a little like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but not the right texture.

Alli - I like it. I like it a lot!
Joe - I like it too. It's really coated with that cinnamon sugar. I like that addition to the maple flavor.

You can definitely see all the cinnamon and sugar coating these.
The texture is a little different. It's more of a puffy cereal versus a crunchy cereal. It's kindof reminiscent of the Eggo Waffle Cereal we tried a few years back

Let's compare the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Waffle cereal to the actual waffle. It's certainly a lot smaller.

Gotta top it off with that delicious Couture Maple Syrup.

Joe - Can you taste the cinnamon in it?
Ian - I can't taste it.
Joe - I didn't add enough to the batter?
Theresa - That's the Ceylon Cinnamon. It's not as strong as the cheap stuff.
Joe - I added a teaspoon to the batter!
Theresa - I add a teaspoon to my bowl of oatmeal in the morning. You need more.

Despite that, the waffles are delicious with that fresh baked flavor and maple goodness on top.

Adding syrup to the cereal directly?

Yep, that's good too.

We've tried the cereal dry, but what about with milk? Milk usually mutes the flavors a bit.
Alli - It's still quite good. What if we poured some maple syrup into the milk.
Ian - Now that's good, but it loses its cinnamon.
Theresa - It's not real strongly flavored to begin with.
Joe - What texture does that remind me of?
Alli - Trix?
Joe - Kinda? Maybe Reese's Puffs.
Theresa - They're that soft?
Joe - Yeah, I think so.

The kids really wanted to make Maple Milk. I recall trying to make that when we were up in Maine. A local dairy made Maple Milk, but only seasonally and I couldn't find it. Instead, I made my own then too.

Both kids liked their creations.

Thumbs up all around for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Waffle Cereal. Theresa too!

And since we're cooking for breakfast, might as well make this a really good breakfast. These breakfast tacos are fantastic. A strip of bacon, eggs, a few crispy tater tots, and salsa on top. So good!

Happy Saturday!

  1. Mmmm...the breakfast taco looks like a big hit, too, while the cereal serves as a yummy accompaniment to the tacos! Sounds like the CTC Waffle Cereal was a very good creation (a "crunchified" waffle w/ maple syrup...like that description :-) )...with the Couture maple syrup taking it up a notch for the kids. The maple syrup is such a delicious topping for those waffles (what a cute waffle maker...the waffles came out nicely browned and perfectly shaped!) EOM
