Happy Halloween! It's time for one of our favorite annual traditions! Reverse Trick or Treating at Disney World! We look forward to this every year and I make reservations as soon as they open up to make sure we can get into the park on October 31st!
These big days don't just happen. There's a bit of prep work involved. In the days before, after gathering all the different goodies, we met up, set up an assembly line, and stuffed a whole bunch of bags with treats!
And this year we've got a lot of really good treat! Airheads, Oreos, Snickers, Haribo Gummy Bears, and Chupa Chup lollipops! And these bags aren't even the half of it. We packed over 350 bags to give away!
Come Halloween day and it's time to give away our treats!
Our first stop before heading to the Magic Kingdom was Chick-fil-A Four Corners to give out treats to our friends who put on such fun events!
They gave out candy to all the different employees who came to see them while we waited for our breakfast sandwiches.
And then it was time to drive to the Magic Kingdom! We started handing out candy as soon as we got there, first with the toll plaza cast member, and then the cast member helping us park.
You've already seen the cute candy handout team. Meet the haul crew. We're providing support to the handout team, carrying over 55 pounds of candy in big backpacks to replenish their stock through the day.
Whew! Those Pikachu costumes have the potential to be super hot. We're definitely taking the tram ride to the Ticket and Transportation Center, and handing out candy to the transportation team as we go.
Made it through security! No problems with the giant backpacks!
Monorail or Ferry? Definitely the monorail!
And it's monorail yellow! Just like Pikachu!
Quick photo by the train station.
Then we hand out as we go.
It looks a little busy on Main Street, but the day turned out to be happily slow. The big crowds we noticed arrived closer to the halloween party at 4pm.
Everyone we see. Balloon sellers.
And we make sure the janitorial staff never get left out. They are always super appreciative to be remembered.
Time to go visit our friends at the Crystal Palace! We asked if Julissa could come out to the front!
Hi friend! She is so good at making sure we find every single person in the Crystal Palace to give a treat to.
And Mrs. Mildred! Good to see you today!
We've been coming to the Crystal Palace for 3 years now, on Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines, to give out candy to the hard working cast members. Enough that many of them are remembering us and the kids.
Enjoy a treat from us!
Even the characters get a special something.
Tiggers are especially bouncy after getting candy.
Good to see everyone again this year!
Then it was off to hand out more treats. So many cast members were appreciative saying things like "You made my day!" and "We have some of the best guests!"
Watching the parade.
Jacob was up super early and was quick enough to get us a reservation for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. We've never been on it since it changed from Splash Mountain. (the costumes came off for the 30 minute wait)
But here we are! Ready for our trip into the Bayou!
Mmm, I could use some beignets!
Gotta give those characters we see a treat!
And all the people helping set up for the parade.
Riding one of Theresa's favorites, the People Mover. It was a walk-on, which rarely happens. Must be a slow day then!
Tron is no longer on the reservation system!
Let's ride!
Ian and Alli in the very front row! The plan was to put our hands up for the picture. As soon as we launched, Ian's hood slid backwards and he went to adjust it. The photo snapped as he held it over his face, almost looking intentional.
And Jacob and I following up behind them.
We didn't bring lunch, but we're just snacking our way through the day. Theresa brought a big bag of veggies and fruits. We settled for a few minutes in the cool AC of the Starlight Cafe. The kids have been real troopers keeping their costumes on all day.
Our last stop was City Hall where we made sure all the front line cast members who deal with the most fun guests get something special. They gave a few hugs and high fives.
We had a lot of fun today, just like we knew we would. It's always a treat to be part of the magic of Disney, making people, who aren't expecting it, smile.
What a fun, magical day and extra kudos to Alli & Ian for being able to wear their Pikachu costumes throughout the warm day! Such a heartwarming time for all the CMs (and the handout team & haul crew...55 lbs of candy...whew!)...so many touched hearts and warm hugs, along with appreciative words (doesn't get any better). Crystal Palace holds such special memories for everyone. Yes, the City Hall CMs get to deal with the "most fun" guests :-)...the unexpected treats were a mood lifter, for sure. Hope Tiana's Bayou Adventure was as enjoyable as Splash Mountain...Tron is hands-down a favorite for the thrill-riders :-) Thanks for making the day extra special for the CMs at the MK (and at CFA)!! EOM
