2024 Neighborhood Trick or Treating

After handing out candy to Disney cast members all morning and afternoon, it was time to do some trick-or-treating of our own!

Our RV park already did a Trunk or Treat a few days before, so we weren't expecting much to go on there. Instead, our friends Nicole and Alfredo invited us to come visit their neighborhood for trick or treating on Halloween night!

The kids would have worn their big Pikachu costumes tonight but someone (oops) forgot they weren't in the bed of the truck anymore and by the time we arrived at our friends' house it was too late. Good thing the clothes they were wearing still count for costumes! Ian is Pikachu, while Alli has her Nightmare Before Christmas Sally dress on.

In this neighborhood, lots of the houses have set up at the end of the driveway, and there's lots of Halloween decorations too! Spooky music playing makes it even better!

Giant talking skeletons when we were walking up.

T saw this house as we were driving in. "They have full size Sour Punch Straws!"

Always on the lookout for a "trick". Alli is holding back and making sure before going up to get a piece of candy. Many many houses had bowls of candy out, and not a single one we saw all night had been ransacked. Good neighborhood!

Alli - Double Stuffed Ian!

Ian complimented the home owner on their "very sincere" pumpkin patch. I'm not sure they got the reference to the Charlie Brown TV special, how the Great Pumpkin only visits the pumpkin patch that is the most sincere.

A house with a lot of great Haunted Mansion decorations!

Hi Jack and Sally!

Cute Hello Kitty inflatables.

Many houses had treats for the adults, as well as the kids.

I was amazed at how many houses were handing out full sized candy bars. And more!

And now, time to sort through all the candy!

Those are some big piles!

So many full sized candy bars! And even bags with full sized candy bars and even more stuff in them!
Total I think they each got 7 full-size candy bars and a dozen bags of chips, crackers, or popcorn.

Themed bags too! Smarties in the fingers and more candy to fill up the rest!

Bags full of candies, stickers, and temporary tattoos. Even Pokemon cards!

Pringles and a full size Snickers! Score!

While they got everything sorted, we watched It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

I definitely see where both kids get some of their traits from. Ian sorted his candy into two piles. One pile to eat and another pile to share (though he'll share from any pile if you really want some). His candy went into two identical grocery bags.
Theresa - How do you know which bag is which?
Ian - The one that's tied is mine. The one that is open is for anybody to reach in and grab something.
Very logical thinking.

Alli separated it just like Theresa used to do; everything by type and category. Very organized and precise.

It's been a very fun filled Halloween day!

  1. What a treat haul from the neighborhood Trick or Treat!...lots of candy, snacks, and "stuff"...regular size candy bars is extremely unusual and then to package them with other goodies...wow, very generous. Extra creativity points to the "semi-opaque glove bag" holding the candy...fit right in with the theme. Lots of fun neighborhood decorations...the Haunted Mansion one had lots of popular elements for a Disney fan (and Alli's costume fit right in, too). Good thing Ian had the Pikachu t-shirt because it made his hood fit right in (perfect cosplay) and Alli was already wearing the Sally dress (easily doubles as a costume, too!). Interesting how each child develops certain preferences and thinking processes, and how it's reflected in how they do and say things...each child is unique! That was a fun time of trick or treating in the neighborhood. EOM
