Holiday Toasted Peanut M&Ms taste test comparison

It's time for another special holiday treat, this time from M&M.

They change their regular candy bags to Red and Green M&Ms for the holiday, but keep the flavors the same. To go along with the Plain and Peanut M&Ms, this year they have released a Toasty Holiday Peanut flavor!

Instead of the usual Red and Green for the holidays, the Toasty Holiday Peanut M&Ms have added Yellow to the mix. I like how they've dressed up Yellow for the holiday, both as a nut vendor and having him tangled in Christmas lights.

I wasn't sure the flavors of each would be that different, so to start, we're doing a blind taste test. I had everyone close their eyes and handed them an M&M. They didn't know which bag it came from (it was regular Peanut), so we'll see what the reactions are.

Joe - Aren't all peanuts a little toasted? You don't put raw peanuts in things.
Jacob - These might be the toasty ones.

Eyes still closed, we're going to try the next flavor. This one is the Toasty Peanut. Will it be much different?

Absolutely it's different. And not in a subtle way either. This M&M gives off a strong flavor.
Alli - The second one is toasty peanut.
Theresa, you're pulling some faces.
Theresa - That second one is not good. It's like maple mixed with burnt nut.
Jacob - I'm not sure if I like the second one. I need to try another.
Theresa - Don't like it.

Joe - The Plain Peanut isn't very intense.
Alli - I like the first one. I hate the second one.
Ian - I wouldn't eat it again, but it isn't horrible.
Jacob - After the first one, it's not as jarring. Try another one Theresa.
Theresa - (trying a second one) It was better the second time but it still has the taste of a burnt peanut to finish it, and I don't like it leaving the finishing taste in my mouth of a burnt peanut.

Joe - I like the Toasty Holiday Peanut. I'm tasting some of those maple flavors Theresa mentioned.
Jacob - I like the Toasty Holiday Peanut better than the regular Peanut too.

Looking at the bag for some direction, the Plain M&Ms show just Natural Flavors, while the Toasty Holiday Peanut shows both Natural and Artificial flavors. Must be those artificial ones that are throwing Theresa off.

Worth picking up to try? I think so. They have a little bit different of a flavor from the regular peanut M&Ms. It's something different to have around for the holidays.
