Oreo Coca-Cola soda and Oreo Coca-Cola sandwich cookies taste test comparison

It's time for a new Oreo cookie taste test! And not just an Oreo cookie taste test, another Coca-Cola Creations lab taste test as well, this time, flavored like Oreo cookies! How strange! But we always like trying strange and bizarre new creations. Our taste buds might not always like them, but it's still entertaining to try them!

We also have lots of Jacob's family here, which is the perfect opportunity to try new things with a big group.
We've tried a few things that have come out of the Coke Creations lab already. Dreamworld Coke, Starlight Coke, and Marshmello's Coke. How will this new Oreo flavored soda fare?
And I think we've tried similar Oreos as well when we had Cherry Cola Oreos with Popping Candy. I remember liking it then. Will I like them again now?

While visiting Target, I was able to find both the Coke Oreos and the Oreo Coke.
I like the design on the package of the Oreos. A bottle shape made from a stacked tower of cookies.

Only here for a limited time, so better taste them while I can.

What shall we try first? The sodas have been on ice, so let's start with them.
The design of the can copies the black and white of the classic Oreo cookie. It's a bit more difficult to make out the bottle shape with the Oreo cookie since it's completely black and white. I do like seeing the blue and white Oreo logo standing out up top.

Another interesting decision was that this drink was only available in a Zero Sugar form. I wonder if that'll affect the after-taste much. The ingredient list only talks about Natural Flavors, so we'll just have to figure out for ourselves how much this tastes like Oreos or anything else.

Theresa - Mine doesn't have to be full. Just saying.
Jacob - It is Coke Zero. You can have as much as you like!
Theresa - But as much as I like might not be much! Just saying!

Jacob - It smells like Vanilla Coke.
Alli - Like the Oreo Creme.
Karen - I think it tastes more like Vanilla Coke than anything.
Jacob - Like Vanilla Coke, but too heavy.
Kimberly - I really like the beverage. I would buy them again. I love Vanilla Coke.

Ian - It tastes like coffee!
Jacob - I do get a little bit of coffee.
Joe - I can taste a little bit of chocolate too.

Jacob - It's too sweet though. It's too heavy.
Joe - It's different.
Ian - It tastes like coffee and it's wrong.
Joe - I don't hate it.
Theresa - It's not as bad as some of the other weird sodas we've had.
Jacob - I wouldn't buy it.
Joe - Chocolatey Cola. But it's not super chocolatey. I was expecting Tootsie Rolls.
Theresa - It starts with a vanilla and finishes with a chocolate.
Joe - Just like Oreo, right?
Toby - I would not go out of my way to get that. If it was between that and water, I would probably choose water.

Jared - It's not a regular Coke Zero. It's very vanilla-ey.
Jacob - The aftertaste tastes like an Oreo.
Karen - After you eat an Oreo you get that film on your teeth. I think this does that too.
Theresa - I'm getting that Zero Sugar Soda finisher too. That diet soda taste.
Jacob - Now if only they made a Zero Calorie Oreo Cookie!
Joe - Need a refill Jared?
Jared - I will respectfully decline.

Let's move on to the Coca-Cola flavored Oreo Sandwich Cookies next. There's Popping Candy inside the creme filling, which will give a sense of carbonation. Is that an Oreo bottle cap I see?

Besties Forever? No, just for a limited time. Taste it while it lasts.

I love the bright red cookies! Classic Coca-Cola color! And fun designs in the cookies themselves too!
On the black cookie you have the standard Oreo design. On the red, there's 3 different embossed shapes. The standard Coca-Cola logo surrounded by bubbles. The Coca-Cola bottle design, also surrounded by bubbles. And another design for just Coke. Interesting because I'm only used to seeing the Coke logo on bottles of Diet Coke. Alli suggested perhaps these could be Diet Cookies with no calories in them. Wishful thinking.

The inside is the standard white filling, but there must be some clear candies mixed into it as well. We'll have to see when we taste them.
Alli - It's like a Harley Quinn color.

Joe - I can smell these from here! That is a strong cola smell.
Ian - Is it Coca-Cola creme?
Joe - I think so. And Pop Rocks in it too.
Theresa - It smells like straight-up Coca-Cola.

Theresa - I'm going to have to split one of these.
Ian - It tastes like an Oreo. With popping candy.
Jacob - I get something different but I don't know what it is.
Theresa - Is it like a cherry or something?
Alli - It's pumpkiney fall taste.
Ian - You nailed that Alli.
Toby - There's not enough to differentiate it for me. It has a couple of pop rocks. A little red devil flavor, but not very distinctive.
Karen - I didn't get the Coca-Cola in the cookie.

Joe - I don't taste Cola. I smell Cola, but I don't taste it.
Kimberly - It's like a red velvet.
Theresa - I'm struggling. It tastes better than I thought it would, but I don't really want it again.

Karen - I didn't get the Pop Rocks.
Jacob - There were very few Pop Rocks.
Toby - Maybe just like 1 or 2 pops.
Joe - I think the Cherry Cola Oreos had more pop rocks in them.

We should separate the cookie and see if different parts have different flavors.
Kimberly - The red cookie has the cola flavor.
Joe - And the chocolate cookie is normal. Except for whatever flavor it has absorbed from something else.
Ian - Now for the creme! It tastes like Oreo frosting with pop rocks.
Kimberly - And there's some cola flavor in the creme too.
Alli - It's pumpkin flavor!
Joe - I don't taste any pumpkin Alli! Where are you getting that from?

Joe - Alli, what are you doing?
Alli - Dunking my Coca-Cola Oreo cookies in my Oreo Coca-Cola drink.
Joe - Soda's favorite cookie?
Ian - It's milk's favorite cookie, but is it Coke's favorite cookie?

Alli - It's better! It gives it a fizz at the start.
Joe - So it has a fizz and a pop.

Alli - Look what else I can do!
Joe - Very clever! Pressing the cookie into the creme transfers the embossed shape!

Theresa - None of it was as bad as I was expecting, but I wouldn't buy them again.
Jacob - If I needed Oreos I wouldn't pass them up. I wouldn't buy the drink.
Joe - It's not a great Oreo Cookie, but it's not the worst. The drink was better than I was expecting for a chocolate soda to taste.

  1. That is definitely a Classic Coca-Cola red coloring on the cookie...such a bright red!...nice designs on the cookie (favorite is the Coca-Cola one w/ the bubbles alongside it...classic-looking). First thought coming to mind when seeing the Oreo Coca-Cola can was the classic, black-striped prison uniform :-) This exchange seems to capture the Oreo drink flavor, "It starts w/ a vanilla and finishes with a chocolate"..."Just like Oreo, right?" :-) "Trying strange and bizarre new creations...entertaining, for sure" beautifully captures the heart of these taste tests at times!!! :-) Another new creation that didn't quite hit the mark, but not a complete disaster, either. :-) EOM
