It's been a fun weekend here in Georgia. We've done lots of fun things like visiting Truett's Luau, hiking with friends, and seeing the Callaway Garden lights while riding through them on a bicycle. Seeing how it's Sunday we could be driving the 8 hours to Orlando today or... let's just go back on Monday and spend today at Six Flags with friends!
Our Georgia friends Jessica, Camille, and Cambridge are here today too, all set to have some fun!
Right at park opening, a color guard came out along with Daffy, Bugs, and Sylvester, all dressed in their patriotic costumes, and everyone paused while the Star Spangled Banner played.
Nice work ladies.
Now it's time to go on rides! Our first stop was a stand-up coaster right near the park entrance. Always fun, even if it does bang you around a little bit. What should we go on next?
Everyone chose Goliath as their favorite ride, based on previous visits. Checking the app though, it's closed. Hmm. I later learned that Goliath is down for the season, undergoing a $1 million dollar repainting project!
Another ride that can get a really backed up line is the Dare Devil Dive. We'll go there instead!
Front row!
Ready to take that straight-down dive!
What should we ride next?
Superman!
It's still pretty quiet in the park, so we had the whole coaster to ourselves!
Jessica, Ian, and Camille prefer the back row.
Alli and I like the thrill of the front!
And when it's not busy, you can find an open row and ride again!
Superman!
Love this style of coaster! We ended up riding 3 times before heading off to the next thing.
Not pictured, but all the kids and Jessica went to ride the Justice League Battle for Metropolis. It's a ride similar to Buzz Lightyear, but with more screens and less physical props.
Cambridge got a hold of a phone and wanted to take pictures too. It's time to get some food! Theresa, Jessica, and Cambridge went to grab things.
While I took everyone else to ride another coaster!
Who is hungry?
One of the things we love here are the pretzels! They're not frozen Super Pretzels. These are handmade, baked fresh, and super tasty! They come in Cinnamon Sugar with frosting to dip in, or buttered and salted with cheese sauce. Both tasty options. Having the dining plan with two free meals or snacks has worked out great!
And if you've got a free refillable drink cup, you can't go wrong!
We picked this spot to dine because usually there is a funny wild west comedy show. They're not performing today though, so the girls promised Cambridge a show with different gymnastics moves.
Ian provided the musical accompaniment.
We've been doing an awful lot of big kid rides, but what about Cambridge? Let's go on some things she likes. These Wonder Woman fliers are at the top of her list.
Good enough to go on twice.
Or three times even. Everyone wants to ride with Cambridge.
We went on a few big rides that were awesome.
Acrophobia wasn't open on our previous visits, so I was happy to ride it today. It's a 200 foot tall drop tower, but once it gets to the top, your seat leans forward, making you face down to the ground even more. They come to a really quick stop just above the ground, which is a real thrilling rush.
The Twisted Cyclone is another great coaster that looked like an old wooden coaster, but the track has been updated to where it can go upside down and it's pretty wild. We love it.
The 15 story Pandemonium pendulum is always a fun time.
Whose legs are those swinging high in the air?
The rest of the afternoon, we meandered around the park. The kids have been loving playing together and doing things on their own. We headed back to Justice League Battle for Metropolis and all the adults waited outside while the 4 kids rode again and again.
It's starting to get dark (the park closes at 6pm) and there's a section of the park we haven't visited yet. Plus they've got some tasty food choices (Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and Cheesesteak fries), so we all went back to Gotham.
We haven't ridden Poison Ivy's Toxic Spin yet. We rode, then all the kids rode again while we waited in line for dinner.
And after dinner, why not go right on Harley Quinn's Wild Whirl?
So fun whipping around the curves.
And you might think our evening would be done, but we've got one more fun surprise! Aunt Megan is in Atlanta for a developers conference! We all decided to meet up for tacos!
The place itself was highly rated, which is why Theresa picked it. Upon arriving, it was pretty clear that this wasn't the best part of town, especially after dark. Oops. Let's change that to a to-go order instead.
Megan even brought a special treat for us. Lots of tasty local treats!
The Pecan Pralines were especially delicious. Thanks Megan!
The next morning, we started the long drive home. The kids did their home-schooling in the car as we drove. It's been a really fun weekend get-away!
Grabbing some bagged candy with our extra dining credits before we leave.
It was a really fun day of hanging out! Thanks for meeting up Jessica, Camille, and Cambridge!
Just can't imagine how people can handle those "hair-raising" wild rides...upside down, free-swinging, near 90 deg dive (yikes!!!)...to top it off, do it after eating, too! (you guys are tough!!)...amazing in my books! It was a respectful way to honor Veterans at the park's opening...color guard and the National Anthem...thank you! Alli is so flexible with all that gymnastics training! What a fun day w/ Camille, Jessica, & Cambridge. Then, to top it off, tacos and special sweets w/ Aunt Megan. Full day to end the Georgia getaway. EOM
