On our recent travels to Vermont, we visited Enticement Alley, a section in Waterbury Vermont that's filled with lots of fun, food themed shops to visit. One of those shops is the Cabot Creamery, where the Cabot Cheese company sells a whole bunch of their different cheeses and cheese products!
We've previously done a sharp cheddar cheese taste test that included 9 of their cheeses, so on this visit, I was looking for something a little different. And I think I found something that we'll all love! Popcorn!
Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese Popcorn, based on their best selling cheddar cheese.
Pepper Jack Seasoned Cheese Popcorn, a spicier alternative.
Maple Cheddar Popcorn. Combine sweet and savory? Oh yes, definitely looking forward to this one.
Sea Salt Caramel Cheddar Popcorn. Caramel and cheese? Let's try it!

We can see that the two sweet and savory popcorns have 2 unique kernels, versus trying to dust the sweet maple and caramel kernels with cheese.
Where do we start? It's gotta be with the Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese Popcorn.

No fake orange color going on here. The popcorn is dusted with a light coating of white powder.
Joe - These are the mushroom type kernels instead of the flower type.
Theresa - I'd eat that.
Ian - It's decent.
Alli - Decent.
Ian - It's cheddar popcorn.
Joe - It's not a very strong cheddar popcorn.
Theresa - It tastes like the Wise Popcorn, or the Smart Pop popcorn.
Joe - What's the cheesiest popcorn you've ever tried? It's always one with the orange cheese.
Alli - Maybe the Doritos Popcorn?
Joe - Mine might be Cheetos Popcorn. It was really cheesy too.
Theresa - I don't need any more cheese than that.
Joe - I also feel like I just opened these bags, and they already taste "soft".
Theresa - They are soft. The popcorn is soft. I don't know if I would say "stale" but I'd say soft.
Joe - The bag claims it's "Seriously Sharp and Wildly Intense." Are we thinking that?
Ian - Nope!
Keeping with the savory popcorn, next we'll try the Pepper Jack Seasoned Cheese Popcorn.

Joe - Time for the Pepper Jack Popcorn. Pepper Jack is usually a little bit spicier.
Alli - But it's not. Maybe an eensie weensie.
Theresa - It tastes like cheddar.
Ian - Wait! I got it on the back end! Alli can you grab me some water!
Theresa - I feel it in the back of my throat. Not when I'm eating it, but when I swallow it.
Joe - It's not that hot.
Ian - But it caught me by surprise.
Joe - I don't think it has much flavor at all.
Ian - I think it has too much flavor.
Joe - I see powder on it, but I'm not getting much out of it.
And just look at that picture of maple syrup drizzled on sharp cheddar that they've included. My mouth is already watering.
Theresa - How do you prefer to eat your Maple Cheddar? Because I'm going to eat them separately.
Joe - I'll have them separate and then together.
Theresa - Whoa! That's maple!
Alli - Very good maple.
Ian - The maple tastes more like coffee.
Theresa - I can see that.
Joe - I like maple.
Ian - Cheese? It's mild. I don't get much flavor from the cheese.
Theresa - Eating them together, it just tastes like maple.
Joe - The maple is the strong dominant flavor, for sure. Which is fine. I like the maple. It's like candy popcorn with maple flavor.
Theresa - I can see what Ian means about the coffee flavor though. Some of them got to the point of being a little burnt.
Joe - Overly toasted?
Theresa - It doesn't taste as burnt as that one.
Ian - It's caramel popcorn.
Theresa - And the cheddar tastes like cheddar.
Joe - Do you like the two together?
Theresa - When you put these two together, all it does is make the caramel taste salty. Which is not bad. I like salted caramel. So it's fine.
Theresa - You're rushing me! I need to try them all again. (grabs it and some falls on the floor).
Joe - (watches as Theresa grabs it and eats it) Did you sweep recently?
Alli - The 5 second rule changed to the 15 second rule because the price of food has gone up.
Ian - My number one was the Cabot Seriously Sharp. Then Maple Cheddar, Caramel Cheddar, and finally Pepper Jack.
Alli - I like Sea Salt Caramel and Cheddar. I liked it because it had a better cheese flavor to go with the caramel. Then Maple Cheddar, Pepper Jack, and Seriously Sharp.
Theresa - Is Alli right? Is the cheddar more intense on the Caramel Cheddar than on the Seriously Sharp Cheddar? I think she might be.
Ian - I think so too.
Theresa - I think there's more seasoning on the Caramel Cheddar popcorn. It looks more caked on.
Joe - My favorite is Maple Cheddar all the way because maple anything is usually delicious, and they did a good job with this one. And the cheddar part of it is fine. Second is the Caramel Cheddar, just cause it's another savory and sweet. Seriously Sharp is next, and then the Cheddar Jack popcorn last. Just because I couldn't taste much on it.
Theresa - My first is the Seriously Sharp Cheddar. Then Sea Salt Caramel Cheddar. Third Maple Cheddar. And fourth Pepper Jack. Don't get me wrong though. I'd eat that whole bag of Pepper Jack. These are all good popcorns. If you gave me any of these at the holidays I'd be like "I Love You! Thank you for giving me popcorn for Christmas!"
Ian - I'd like any of them except the Pepper Jack.
Joe - Any other comments?
Alli - All good!
