Six Flags New England - Connecticut - 2024/08/06

Jumping back a little bit to continue the write-up from our summer travels.

We're leaving Rhode Island and headed to our next stop in Connecticut!

It was a little bit rainy as we got packed up and headed just about 1:15 east towards the next state on our list.

Welcome to Connecticut. Still Revolutionary. The Constitution State.

All the way to Riverdale Farm Campsites. Our site was a pull-through and even with the weather, it wasn't too difficult to get everything set up. At this point, we've gotten pretty good at this.

But! We're not done with our day yet. It was a super short drive from one campsite to the other. Why not drive across the entire rest of Connecticut to head to some place fun!

Some place that's technically in Massachusetts.

Parked and ready to go! We're headed to another Six Flags Park! This $80 annual pass that lets us go to any Six Flags park has certainly come in handy!

The parking lot is a little ways from the park, so we hopped in the queue for the tram.

While a Ford F350 pulled around hauling tram cars behind it.

Let's go!

Up and over the roadway.

And we've made it! Welcome to Six Flags New England!

It's just a little rainy now, but that's sure to clear up in a little while.

What should we ride first? The kids have really started to like roller coasters, and Six Flags is full of them! Here's one we haven't seen before. The Joker coaster!

Looking at it, I was getting Green Lantern vibes (one of the worst roller coasters ever built. Seriously. There's been videos on it.)

But it was a fun, spinning ride, where you had no idea which way you'd be rolling next. The track is straight up and down with no turns in it, and as a result was very short. I think we waited to get off for 3x the ride time. It's a little slow to board too, so the lines can get long, but everyone had a good time with it.

Since we're in the DC Comics area, let's go on a few other rides. Like Batman!

It's a really whippy coaster that lets your feet dangle!

But we still ride with our hands held high.

Then over to Riddle Revenge!

Not too bad of lines here today either. Just 15 minutes to get to the front of the line!

You sit 2 people per row, so the kids sat in the row behind me.

They're inverted.

Back row!

Well, I thought Batman was whippy. This one was even more than that!
Later the kids and I watched a few videos about the worst coasters in the world, and this design from Vekoma (and the standard 689m layout) was the 2nd worst coaster design in the world! The kids did not want to ride it again.

But you know what looks really fun? Harley Quinn's Spinsanity!

It's 14 stories high, but never goes inverted. When it swings back down, it reaches speeds of 70 mph!

And the really fun part is that you seem to come really close to The Joker coaster. Very appropriate that Harley Quinn and The Joker should be next to each other.

All the way on the other side of the park is a ride called the Wicked Cyclone. Originally opened in 1983 as Cyclone as a wooden coaster, this ride started seeing a decline in popularity in the 2010s.

But then the track was redone as a steel coaster with crazy twists and loops in 2015.

Thank you Theresa for all these shots of us riding.

It's so good, you want to go again!

What a blast! There's just something a little different about going inverted with no shoulder harness! The kids really felt the lapbar and secondary seat belt digging in when we went over the hills with the negative Gs. On future rides, they made sure the buckle was not lined up directly with the bar pressing down on their thighs. Alli had some really good marks on her legs from it!

Dinner time! There's a Chinese restaurant right near the coaster called Chop Six that was smelling really good.

Though $18 for this one entree platter seemed a little steep. There's only like 6 pieces of chicken there. Good thing we're eating free on the dining plan.

Might as well ride another coaster while we're over here.

Pandemonium takes you on a regular coaster track, but the cart is also free to spin around in 360 degrees!

It was a fun little coaster.

It's getting close to the end of the operating day here at Six Flags New England. There's only an hour or so before the park closes. We have to do what many have voted as the best ride here.
Superman The Ride is a Mega Coaster with a 208 foot drop and a top speed of 77 mph. It has been voted "Best Steel Coaster" 5 times in the last 24 years, with multiple 2nd and 3rd place rankings as well. I love all the airtime and the speed and smoothness of the ride.

And as soon as you clear the loading zone and start going up the lift hill, the classic Superman theme by John Williams starts playing, as you climb up all 208 feet.

The other thing that made this ride amazing was how long it was!

With 5400 feet of track, it takes 2:35 to go all the way around! Amazing!

And one thing we really really liked about Six Flags is that they aren't too picky on if you want to ride again. Once the ride is over, if there's no one in your row, feel free to stay seated. If there is someone waiting for your seat, just move over to another empty seat and go again!
The kids and I entered the ride queue just the one time... and got to ride 11 times before the park closed for the night! It was a blast!

We've had such a fun time at Six Flags New England! This has been a great stop! Let's do it again tomorrow!
