Dr Pepper flavored Peeps - taste test comparison

It's Easter time which means it's time for Easter treats! And one of our favorite treats is Peeps! 

We've tasted a whole bunch of different flavored Peeps, including back in 2020 when we tried 9 unique flavors! This year, I noticed that Peeps has added quite a few new flavors to the line-up, so we'll be trying them along with the item they're supposed to represent! 

Today we've got a really special one. Based on the best soda out there (arguably) it's the Dr Pepper Peep! We've tried Dr Pepper Cotton Candy, Dr Pepper Baked Beans, and lots of flavors of Dr Pepper. Growing up I even remember a Dr Pepper gum that had a liquid center. How will these Peeps compare? 

And of course, to compare, we'll have a cold can of Dr Pepper to see how close Peeps really get to the flavor of Dr Pepper. 

I love that they have the deep maroon color for the packaging, and they've carried that dark red into the Peeps themselves. We opened it up and prepared to have a laugh about how the eyes are lined up on the Peeps chicks. We'll give them a 3 of 5 overall. We see a couple cyclopes in there. 

The next batch of birds looks better for eye placement. We'll give them a 4.5/5.

Ian - Peeps and soda! Peeps and soda! Peeps and soda! 

Joe - Okay... Does this taste like Dr Pepper? 

Jacob - Dr Pepper is the best soda, so it's got a high bar. 

Joe - It does!

Jacob - Huh! It actually kinda does!

Theresa - It tastes like Dr Pepper? 

Joe - It really does! 

Jacob - Good job Peeps!
Ian - Wow!  

Theresa - So I should try it? 

Jacob - You only need to taste the outside because the inside has no flavor. It's cherry/spicy. 

Theresa - I don't even like Peeps. I like marshmallow. I don't like the crunchy texture with marshmallow. The two texture mixes. I love crunchy sugar and I love marshmallow, but don't love them together. I love marshmallows just fine. 

Jacob - There's a bit of an aftertaste. Fake sugary. 

Time to try the soda. 

Ian - Can you give me extra? 

Everyone - CHEERS!

Theresa - That's tasty. They do a really good job with with Dr Pepper Zero. 

Ian - I think the Peep might even be more accurate than the Dr Pepper Zero. 

Theresa - It might be with its real sugar. That Peeps was spot on. 

Joe - They did a really good job with that one. 

Theresa - That might be the most spot on flavor of any of the things we've tried that were supposed to taste like something else. 

Ian - That was so on target. 

Joe - After I drink the Dr Pepper, I taste less of the Dr Pepper in the Peep. But, tasting the Peep first, I got it. 

Jacob - Those are actually Peeps I would buy, if I bought Peeps. Regular Peeps, I don't like just the sweet flavor, but I actually like this flavor. 

Ian - ♫ "He's a Pepper, she's a Pepper, they're a Pepper, wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too!" ♫

Alli - I'm dipping the Dr Pepper Peep into the Dr Pepper.

Joe - Is it good? 

Alli - Yeah!
